Hate sitting in traffic jams? Beacon Radio’s travel correspondent ‘Travel Tom’ Stokes has teamed up with the Shropshire Star to help drivers avoid the hold-ups. Every Saturday he compiles a list of need-to-know roadworks for the next seven days.
Week commencing Saturday October 4
Shrewsbury
From Monday there will be a change to some on street parking in Shrewsbury Town Centre. The main difference you’ll see is that there will be no yellow lines on certain routes, which used to have them before. Instead there will be signs to say that parking restrictions are in operation. The roads affected will be Castle Gates at its junction with Smithfield Road, Castle Street, St Mary’s Street, Dogpole and Wyle Cop (to its junction with Beeches Lane) and some of the side streets namely School Gardens, St Mary’s Place, Windsor Place and St Mary’s Water Lane.
On the A49 between the Sundorne Island and the Preston Island there will be roadworks and temporary traffic lights in use from Monday until Wednesday.
Bridgnorth
There will be one day roadworks on Tuesday on the A458. Temporary traffic lights will be in use between Wenlock Road and Ludlow Road.
Pontesbury
Temporary traffic lights will be in use from Monday until Wednesday on the main A488 in the village.
Worfield
Between Monday and Tuesday there will be roadworks on the B4176, temporary traffic lights will be in use.
